Description	:	Alberta May Hughes, daughter of Robert and Lucy Esther (Marshall) Hutchcroft, was born July 18, 1909, in Decatur County, Iowa. May passed May 18, 1988, at North Kansas City, Hospital at the age Of U. She graduated from Lamoni High School and attended Graceland College. May was married to Raymond Grannaman and had one daughter, Joan Hope. On November 25, 1944, she married Walter Hughes and to this union one daughter, Mary Alice, was born. May was married to Raymond Grannaman and had one daughter, Joan Hope. On November 25, 1944, she married Walter Hughes and to this union one daughter, Mary Alice, was born. After her marriage to Walter Hughes, they moved north of Des Moines and became active in the church at Rhodes. In Winterset, they were active in developing and dedicating the Indianola Church. May was baptized into the R.L.D.S. Church on July 10, 1955, at Creston, Iowa. May had worked for Dr. Kenneth Brown when she had lived in Lamoni, and for Keith Bell Ford in Winterset. When she moved back to Lamoni, she worked at the city hall and at the community center. She retired on April 1, 1988. Following Walter's death, she moved to Kellerten, and eventually back to her hometown of Lamoni. She was preceded in death by her husband, Walter; brothers Walter, Robert, Marshall (Bill), and Wayne (Mike) and his wife Evelyn. May leaves to mourn her death her daughters, Joan Konopasek and husband Doyle of Kellerton, Iowa and Mary Hughes of Independence, Missouri; brother, Cecil (Chub) Hutchcroft and wife Ruth of Carlsbad, California; sister-in-law Pearl Walden, Lamoni; grandchildren Linda and David Dunn of Stanton, Iowa, Glen and Shirley Konopasek of Fayetteville, Arkansas, Jeannie and Marvin Hultquist of Elliott, Iowa and Betty and Jerry Gage of Kellerton, Iowa, 14 great-grandchildren, other relatives and a host of friends. Funeral services were held Saturday, May 21, at 2:00 p.m. at the Lamoni R.L.D.S. Church with Robert B. Hynden and Rev. Tom Zeleny officiating. Funeral arrangements were made with the Slade & Duerr Funeral Home. Burial was in the Rose Hill Cemetery.
