She grew up and graduated from high school there. Alberta graduated from Eastern Normal School, Madison, SD before teaching near Ramona for two years. She moved to the Tea, SD area in 1934 and taught in a rural school there for two years. Alberta was united in marriage with Glenn Fritz on April 4, 1936 in Sioux Falls, SD. The couple farmed in the Tea area their entire married lives. Alberta has lived at the Lennox Good Samaritan Center for the past four years. Alberta was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Tea, where she was active in Circle. She was also a member of the Tea Coffee Club and a 30-plus year member of County Extension. Alberta earned a reputation as an accomplished gardener. She always had a large vegetable garden and a beautiful flower garden. Iris, poppies, gladiolas, cannas, mums, and a host of colorful annuals graced her yard. What she didn't use for the family, she shared with others. Grateful for having shared her life are her children, Roger Fritz and his wife, Judy, Colman, SD, Arlene Klawiter and her husband, Rick, Sioux Falls, SD, Elaine Mellegard and her husband, Kirby, Rapid City, SD, Rodney Fritz and his wife, Mary, Murdock, NE; 13 grandchildren, Gregory Fritz, his wife, Ranae and their children, Amanda and Cody, Colman, SD, Suzanne Hemmer, her husband, Steve and their children, John and Dani, Colman, SD, Sandra Schmidt, her husband, Dan and their children, Tiffany, Tate and Carter, Colman, SD, Jeffrey Fritz, his wife, Michelle and their children, Adam, Jill and Gina, Colman, SD, Eric Klawiter, Sioux Falls, SD, Melanie Klawiter, Sioux Falls, SD, Dana Mellegard, Rapid City, SD, Sara Mellegard, Rapid City, SD, John Mellegard, Rapid City, SD, Michael Fritz, Murdock, NE, Melissa Ross and her husband, Tom, Kearney, NE, Matthew Fritz, Murdock, NE, Teresa Fritz, Murdock, NE; one brother, George "Lenley" Fulwider and his wife, Vivian, Spanaway, WA; one sister, Billie Campbell, Oro Valley, AZ; a special sister-in-law, Ardis Fulwider, Mounds View, MN; a special niece, Estelle Campbell, Madison, SD; and a host of other relatives and friends. Alberta was preceded in death by her husband, Glenn, on September 9, 1999; her parents; four brothers, Clarence, Ralph, Raymond, Verlyn; and five sisters, Evelyn Sharron, Irene Boellard, Louella Hardick, Ethelyn Bachman and Viola Anderson. Alberta's family requests that memorials be directed to Trinity Lutheran Church, Tea, SD. Alberta's grandson, Eric Klawiter, wrote this song as a tribute to his grandmother in the summer of 2002. They made a perfect life. Alberta was a teacher In an old country school. Four children of her own. Each one a different jewel.
