Description	:	Albur George Peters was born the fifth child of Wilhelm Christian and Emma (Krohn) Peters at Wausa, Nebraska, on April 19, 1927. He died at his home on March 19, 2015, at the age of 87. He was baptized at Golgotha Lutheran Church, rural Wausa, on Sunday, May 22, 1927, confirmed there on Sunday, June 16, 1940, and was a lifelong member of the congregation. Read More	Albur George Peters was born the fifth child of Wilhelm Christian and Emma (Krohn) Peters at Wausa, Nebraska, on April 19, 1927. He died at his home on March 19, 2015, at the age of 87. He was baptized at Golgotha Lutheran Church, rural Wausa, on Sunday, May 22, 1927, confirmed there on Sunday, June 16, 1940, and was a lifelong member of the congregation. After graduating from Wausa High School in 1944, Albur attended the Commercial Extension Business College in Omaha. While in school he worked in a factory making land mines until his entry into US Army on July 1945. He served in the motor pool and was part of the occupational force in Trinidad during World War II. Following his discharge in 1947, Albur worked at the Council Oak Grocery Store in Wausa. On July 9, 1950, Albur married Florence Mae Monson at the Evangelical Covenant Church of Wausa. In 1952 Albur went into partnership with his father, W. C. Peters, in Peters’ Electric. In 1958 he purchased Carl Anderson’s Hardware in Wausa which he operated as Peters’ Hardware and Furniture until the time of his death. In 1998 Knox County Fair Board paid tribute to Albur, dedicating the Fair Book to him in recognition of his many accomplishments. Last year the Norfolk Daily News recognized Albur’s ownership of Peters’ Hardware for nearly 57 years. Albur was a member of the Wausa Volunteer Fire Department for more than 24 years, was a past member of the Commercial Club, the Wausa Development Corporation, and also served on the Wausa Town Board. He was a member and past chair of the Wausa Library Board for about 40 years and the Woodlawn Cemetery Board for nearly 40 years. Albur was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars and was a member of the American Legion for 70 years. He was part of the group that brought a dentist to Wausa and raised funds to construct the dental clinic still in operation there. Albur campaigned with his longtime friend Norbert Tiemann in his successful race for Governor of Nebraska. Albur held many positions at Golgotha Lutheran Church over the years, from chairman, elder, trustee, to pastoral call committee. He considered one of his most important efforts the work on the Fellowship Hall for the Church which was finished in 2005.
