Description	:	Providence Journal 5/10/2000 ALCY M. STEERE, 96, formerly of Putnam Pike, Chepachet, a retired personnel manager, died Monday at the Overlook Nursing Home in Burrillville. She was the wife of the late Everett M. Steere. A lifelong resident of Glocester, she was a daughter of the late Henry M. and Sarah S. (Olney) Paine. Mrs. Steere was employed by the former Stillwater Worsted Mills of Harrisville for 37 years. She was a direct descendant of the Roger Williams, and a member of the Roger Williams Family Association. STEERE, 96, formerly of Putnam Pike, Chepachet, a retired personnel manager, died Monday at the Overlook Nursing Home in Burrillville. She was the wife of the late Everett M. Steere. A lifelong resident of Glocester, she was a daughter of the late Henry M. and Sarah S. (Olney) Paine. Mrs. Steere was employed by the former Stillwater Worsted Mills of Harrisville for 37 years. She was a direct descendant of the Roger Williams, and a member of the Roger Williams Family Association. She was a member of the Colonial Daughters of the 17th Century, and a past matron of the former Philia Chapter OES 13 in Chepachet. She was a member of Queen of Sheba 10 in Scituate, and Chepachet Union Church. She served on the executive board of Rhode Island Association of the Blind, now known as Insight, and also served as secretary of the board, and she volunteered for all activities held. She was a former member of Beacon Pole Hill Chapter DAR, a member of Arbutus Rebekah Lodge and the former Greenville Senior Sunshiners, and a life member of the Glocester Senior Citizens. She was a member of the last graduating class of the former English High School in Providence. She leaves a daughter, S. Shirley Greenhalgh of Greenville, two grandchildren, and four great-grandchildren. The funeral service will be held tomorrow at noon in the Anderson-Winfield Funeral Home, Route 44 at Greenville Common, Greenville. Burial will be in Acotes Hill Cemetery, Chepachet.
