Description	:	Alene Madeliene Mockelmann was the second child born to Ray and Rena Burnett on August 4, 1920 in Sharon Springs, Kansas. She entered school at the age of 5 – a year earlier than most of her first grade classmates. Her academic abilities allowed her to continue through school and graduate at 16. She went to Barnes Business School in Denver. On a train ride home, she met Henry A. (Bud) Mockelmann from Cheyenne Wells. Read More	Alene Madeliene Mockelmann was the second child born to Ray and Rena Burnett on August 4, 1920 in Sharon Springs, Kansas. She entered school at the age of 5 – a year earlier than most of her first grade classmates. Her academic abilities allowed her to continue through school and graduate at 16. She went to Barnes Business School in Denver. On a train ride home, she met Henry A. (Bud) Mockelmann from Cheyenne Wells. They married on her Grandparent Foley’s 50th wedding anniversary, January 8, 1944. Bud and Alene were life partners for 60 years when Bud passed away on January 5, 2004. Their three children were born and raised on the farm 7 miles south of Cheyenne Wells. Alene had worked for Father Kieffer in the calendar shop at the beginning of her work career. Later, she worked on the Eastern Colorado Bank where she met and helped many people with their insurance needs. Her role as partner of Mockelmann Farms was fulfilled for the 71 years she lived on the farm. Her math skills were superior. She did the farm bookkeeping and records until 2015. Daily entries in her journal are often referred to still for business. Family, and community event assurance. She sewed many dressed and repaired a lot of torn overalls. She crocheted and knitted beautiful afghans and garments, and she liked to read books, especially historical novels. On her 95th birthday, she entered Cheyenne Major where she made many friends and received wonderful needed care until her angels took her on this special journey for which she has prepared most devoutly. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband – Bud, brothers – Wayne and Lawrence “Demps” Burnett, sister – Wilma Bedker and granddaughter Jalene Michelle Smith. Survivors are her 3 children, inlaws, grandchildren, great grandchildren, her brother Fred Burnett (Agnes) and sister-in-law Virginia Burnett are also survivors together with a host of nieces, nephews, and their relatives. The family is grateful for everyone who has known, loved, and cared for Alene. She was a special lady to us and many others. She lived a long, full life, and appreciated all who helped her along the way. Thank you!
