Description	:	Alex Fritzler, Sr., age 94, of Laurel, who was a carpenter by trade, died Sunday evening, March 8, 1981 at the Billings Deaconess Hospital. He was born Sept. 29, 1886, a son of Mr. and Mrs. Conrad Fritzler, in Grimm, Russia, which was a German Colony near the Volga River. He came to the United States in 1912 and settled in the Park City and Laurel area. Fritzler, a veteran of World War I, went to work for the Northern Pacific Railroad in 1918 and retired in 1955. Read More	Alex Fritzler, Sr., age 94, of Laurel, who was a carpenter by trade, died Sunday evening, March 8, 1981 at the Billings Deaconess Hospital. He was born Sept. 29, 1886, a son of Mr. and Mrs. Conrad Fritzler, in Grimm, Russia, which was a German Colony near the Volga River. He came to the United States in 1912 and settled in the Park City and Laurel area. Fritzler, a veteran of World War I, went to work for the Northern Pacific Railroad in 1918 and retired in 1955. He was married to Katherine (nee Knaus) Deines on July 20, 1921. She preceded him in death Oct. 27, 1973. A son, Henry, also preceded him in death in 1966. Survivors include two sons, Alex, Jr. and Albert, both of Laurel and two daughters, Mrs. Norman (Irene) Shorb of Billings and Mrs. John (Mary) Foos of Edgar; 11 grandchildren, five great-grandchildren, and two great-great-grandchildren. Funeral services were held at 2 pm, Wednesday, March 11 at the First Congregational Church of Laurel with the Rev. Elmer T. Wilhelm officiating. Burial followed at the Laurel Cemetery. Smith-Cashmore Memorial Chapel at Laurel was in charge of the arrangements. The casketbearers were the grandsons, Jerry, Dean, and Terry Fritzler and Randy, Lee, and Ronald Foos. Music was under the direction of Laura Frank as the organist and Esther Wilhelm and Dorothy Guinn singing "In The Garden" and "Laszt Mich Gehn". The Billings Gazette - 8 March 1981
