| Description | : | Alexander Taylor came from Aberdeen, Scotland, to St. George, New Brunswick, in 1872 via Maine. After working briefly for the Bay of Fundy Red Granite Co., he built his own mill and established the St. George Granite Works in 1881. Alexander died in 1889 while on a business trip to Quebec. His sons Alexander Jr., John, and William carried on with the business but all died young and the company and its landholdings were sold to John O'Brien and Andrew S.
