Alexander was the 2nd of ten children who were all enumerated in father, John Burnside's, will: Alexander was born in the area of what was originally known as Greenbrier Co., Virginia. Later the area became Bath Co., Virginia. His birth date listed here is based on his death record that was obtained from Logan Co., Ohio, archives which calculated his age at death was: 97 yrs, 3 mos, 24 days. His cause of death was listed as "old age." It is also listed in the record that his father was of "foreign birth." He married Elizabeth Gilliland on Jan. 28, 1800, in Bath Co., Virginia, where 8 of their ten (10) children were born. Sometime after Aug. of 1815, Alexander and Elizabeth moved to Logan Co., Ohio, where two more children were born to the family. Alexander Burnside had only ONE spouse, Elizabeth. There has been confusion by others who have linked him to Julia Woodruff and Peggy Garvin which is totally false.
