George, age 92 years of Route 1, Iberia, Mo., passed away early Sunday morning, May 19, 1974 at his home. Mr. George was born December 27, 1881 in Camden County near Kaiser, Mo., the son of Joseph Forbes and Mahaile E. (Jeffries) George. He was united in marriage to Minnie Hopkins, who preceded him in death in 1918. On February 8, 1920 he was married to Rocena McDowell, who preceded him in death on November 16, 1960. Mr. George was then married on February 7, 1963 to Ethel Howard, who survives of the home. He lived in Camden and Miller Counties all his life with the exception of a few years spent in Jackson County. Mr. George was a farmer and was employed by Armco Steel Mills in Kansas City, Mo. He was a member of the Hickory Point Baptist Church. He was preceded in death by 6 children and 18 brothers and sisters. Surviving other than his wife, Ethel, are three sons, Peron of Eldon, Mo., Joe of Independence, Mo. and Jim of Buckner, Mo.; three daughters, Mrs. Cora Sheilley of Eugene, Oregon, Mrs. Edith Bondenberger of Sugar Creek, Mo. and Mrs. Dorothy DeGraffenreid of Buckner, Mo.; one brother, Joda F. George of Ulman, Mo.; 17 grandchildren, 29 great-grandchildren and 1 great-great-grandchild. Funeral services were held at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday, May 21 at the Stevinson Chapel in Iberia, Mo. with Rev. Gary Gulley officiating. Interment was in the New Hope Cemetery near Kaiser, Mo. under the direction of the Stevinson Funeral Home of Iberia. Pallbearers were Richard Fercho, Forbes George, Charles George, Joe Barnett, Jack Spearman, Donald DeGraffenreid and Marvin DeGraffenreid."
