To them were born four children; PEARL, EFFIE, JESSIE and OTIS. He made a profession of faith in Christ and joined the Wesleyan M.E. Church in l893. He came to Leon in l906 where he joined the First Baptist Church and was baptized February l7, l907. He was always true and faithful to the church and Pastor, enjoyed the meetings for prayer, was a lover of the song "Tis The Old Time... He came to Leon in l906 where he joined the First Baptist Church and was baptized February l7, l907. He was always true and faithful to the church and Pastor, enjoyed the meetings for prayer, was a lover of the song "Tis The Old Time Religion." He prayed earnestly for the church, for the Pastor, in time of trial, that God would be around and about as a wall of fire. He was loved by all who knew him from boyhood. His friends were numbered by thousands in Decatur County, none were ever heard to say aught against ALFRED D. BRANNAMAN. All unite in saying he was a good man, whom to know was to love. He was present at the last prayer meeting held in the Leon Church before he died, took part in the meeting and expressed his joy in coming into the house of God. His body was brought from Chariton to Grand River last Thursday and taken home to his dear aged mother, and on Friday the funeral sermon was preached in the Baptist Church at Grand River by Rev. Jas. A. Armstrong from John ll:25, "I am the Resurrection and the Life." About seven hundred were in and about the church building; one of the largest funerals ever held at Grand River. The remains were laid at rest at Oak Hill Cemetery on Friday evening. Flowers were brought and strewn upon his grave. As the sun was sinking behind the western hills, we turned away from the grave of dear ALFRED and with his sorrowing friends, especially his dear Christian mother for whom there is much sympathy, we prayed that all may be permitted to meet again in Heaven where we shall never say good-bye, and God shall wipe away all tears. There shall be no more pain nor death for the former things shall have passed away. Overlooking Grand River, on Oak Hill, Friday, June l9, l908, we laid away the body of one without an enemy, loved by all who knew him.
