In Sept. last, Alfred Brumwell, with his wife and little daughter, arrived here from St. Michaels, Neb., to spend the summer with his brother, Frank R. Brumwell. He was in delicate health at the time, consumption having taken firm hold upon him. For some times after his arrival he gained strength and seemed to be in a fair way to recover, but a relapse came and he sank rapidly; for several weeks past his death was momentarily expected. A few days since his daughter, Nellie, aged about three years, was attack with la grippe, and suffered greatly. Later the disease settled in the child's throat, resulting in death at midnight, Wednesday, Feb. 12, 1890. Just thirty minutes after Nellie expired the Angel of Death summoned the spirit of her father, Alfred Brumwell, into the presence of its Giver. The death of Mr. Brumwell and his daughter bring a heavy burden of sorrow upon the surviving wife and mother, and also upon a large circle of relatives and friends, many of them residents of this city. A short funeral service will be held at the residence of F. R. Brumwell, at 10 o'clock Friday forenoon, conducted by Rev. H.H. Dresser. The remains will be buried in one grave in Riverside Cemetery. Mrs. Brumwell, wife of deceased, and Edward Brumwell, a brother, will return to their home in St. Michaels, Neb., in a few days, where Alfred Brumwell was postmaster until within a few days of his death; almost his last act being the penning of his resignation. To all the bereaved ones the sympathy of many friends here is extended.
