Highland Recorder 21 July 21, 1916 Alfred Eli Wilson was born March 11, 1849, died June 19,1916, at his home near Doe Hill. He resided here from birth; was the son of the late Eli and Naomi Wilson, a member of a family of thirteen children all of whom have preceded him to the grave except one brother, Clarke, of Elkhart Ind. and his youngest sister, Victoria Corbett, of Pinckney Va. He married Margret A. Rusmisel in 1877, to this union six children were born, three sons and three daughters, the two oldest sons and one daughter dying in early childhood; the the other three and mother remain. He had been a suffering invalid for 25 years, his youngest child being one year of age at the time of his affliction making life a struggle for him, wife and children, his affliction being progressive locamotor ataxia, with a complication of other diseases. He knew for weeks he would have to depart this life and often said to his humble serving wife and other members of the family, "I wish it was all over," and that he wanted to go. He was a member of the Methodist church and always fond of music, and, at times, seemingly enjoyed himself, considering his great suffering. He had nine grandchildren seven of whom are living. He had a good memory and could tell most anything of the past generation. He was strongly constituted and had too much energy for his strength, which perhaps shortened his days. Funeral services were conducted Tuesday evening at Doe Hill church by his pastor Rev. Mr. Allen assisted by Mr. Blagg and Beverage, and his body was laid to rest in the village cemetery by the side of his brother. Highland Recorder March 4, 1898 Mr. Eli Wilson of Doe Hill who was partially paralyzed several years ago, has recently had another stroke. Highland Recorder December 22, 1911 Married Oliver Pitsenbarger and Miss Masie Wilson, both of Doe Hill. The groom is the fourth son of Mr. Harrison Pitsenbarger, of Pendleton county. The bride is the eldest daughter of Eli Wilson. They are highly respected young people, and have the best wishes of many friends.
