Agee, Former Postmaster, Died At Home Sunday" Burial Will Be Tuesday Afternoon, Services At First Baptist Church At 3 O'Clock Albert Frank Agee, age 60 years, died at his home at 115 Chestnut Street Sunday afternoon about six o'clock after a short illness. Mr. Agee was attended by a local physician shortly before he died. Death was due to heart failure, it was said. Services will be held Tuesday afternoon at the First Baptist Church at 3 p.m. Burial will be in Woodlawn Cemetery. Mr. Agee, known as one of the most affable of LaFollette citizens, was postmaster for about thirteen years and was City Commissioner of LaFollette for three terms. He had been deeply interested in politics , was high in republican political councils, was Congressional committeeman for two terms and was deeply interested in all civic affairs. He was a member of one of the pioneer families of the county, was friendly and yet firm in his convictions and acquired and held the esteem of everyone. He established the furniture and undertaking business of which he was the head, in LaFollette in 1911, with W. A. W. Carden. This partnership continued until a few years ago when Frank Agee, Jr. became associated with his father in the business. He had been a member of the masonic lodge, the Knights of Pythias, and the Juniors. He was a member of the First Baptist Church and gave liberally to the church benevolences. Surviving Mr. Agee are his wife, two daughters, Mrs. Roy Card and Mrs. Kenneth Moore, one son, Frank, his mother, Mrs. Thomas Oaks, two sisters, Mrs. Mossie Hodges and Mrs. Charles Smith, one brother, John Agee of Knoxville, and four grandchildren, Jack and Julia Card and Kenneth and Frances Moore. He was one of the closest friends of the late J. Will Taylor and aided him in all his campaigns for election to congress. Had Mr. Agee lived he would have been 60 years old on August 12. Pallbearers will be: W. H. Parrott, Sr., E. E. Hill, Marshall McGhee, E. L. Saulsberry, Louis Balloff, and Dr. W. C. Adams. Honorary pallbearers will be all his friends. From the LaFollette Press, Friday, August 2, 1940: "Services Held For Mr. Agee" Large Crowd Attests To Popularity Of LaFollette Citizen, Body Buried In Woodlawn" Services were held Tuesday afternoon at 3 p.m. for A. Frank Agee, who died Sunday afternoon late. The large crowd which attended the services at the First Baptist attested to the popularity of the former LaFollette postmaster and business man. The body lay in state from 1 to 3 o'clock and many people viewed it before the service. Burial was in the Woodlawn Cemetery following services. Mr. Agee, who died last Sunday evening, would have been 60 years of age August 7. His full name was Alfred Frank Agee. Mr. Agee was held in high esteem by everyone who knew him. By request of Mrs. Agee the following sentiment is given: "We loved him, yes we loved him But the angels loved him more And they have swiftly called him To yonder's shining shore The golden gates were opened A gentle voice said Come And with farewells unspoken He calmly entered home."
