Description	:	Alfred Hans Rudio went home to be with the Lord and love of his life, Marian, on May 11, 2012. Al was born into the family homestead in Huntley Project on Jan. 27, 1918. Read More	Alfred Hans Rudio went home to be with the Lord and love of his life, Marian, on May 11, 2012. Al was born into the family homestead in Huntley Project on Jan. 27, 1918. From his early age, Al learned the true meaning of working hard. The family homestead was the center of his life. It was not only a home, but the family's center of income. Al attended school through the eighth grade and then gladly contributed full time work to the family homestead. Al loved to work hard and play hard and did so for his whole life. At the age of 24, Alfred joined the Marine Corps where he was a member of the First Provisional Marine Brigade. Two years later, Alfred was wounded in the line of duty in WWII. After spending a year of recovery in the hospital, Al was honorably discharged and returned to the family homestead. For his time and his honorability, Alfred proudly earned the distinguished Purple Heart for his dedication, courageousness, and remarkable heroism. On May 12, 1950, Alfred was united in marriage to Marian Weil in Billings. Al and Marian have five children; Larry (Annette) of Cody, Wyo., Terry (Geri) of Billings, Roger (Marjorie) of Billings, Annette (Ray) Ostermiller of Billings, and Jeffrey (Colleen) of Missoula. Alfred and Marian made a wonderful living farming in the Billings area until 1956, when they moved to a farm in Belfry. In 1967, they moved from their farm to the town of Belfry where Al took a job with the school district. The couple moved to Laurel in 1979 and Al began working for Canyon Creek Ditch Company after retiring from the Belfry School District. Al was a dedicated husband, caring father, loving grandfather, strong brother and honorable friend. Al enjoyed gardening, playing cards, summer barbeques, camping, good books and watching his grandchildren and great-grandchildren play. His family always looked forward to a good story, a promising challenge in the game of cribbage, and watching his favorite old western movies. We will remember all of these things and keep his memory in our hearts forever. The family would like to thank the doctors and nurses at the Veterans Administration and all of his care providers (too many names to mention) at Tender Nest Assisted Living Facility for their excellent care of our beloved Al. Alfred is preceded in death by his parents Christian and Sophie Rudio; his brother Christian Rudio Jr.; and his sisters Lena Helzer, Louise Gallop, Sophia Nielsen and Ruth Kaiser. He is survived by his sister Rose Helzer and his brother Charles (Bob) Rudio; his five children; nine grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; and two step great-grandchildren. Services will be held in Billings at one o'clock p.m. on Wednesday, May 16, at Smith West Chapel, Located at 304 34th Street West with interment at Sunset Memorial Gardens and a reception following.
