Description	:	ALFRED HARRY KOK "Bud" was born June 13, 1925 at rural Ellingson, SD to Arthur and Dora (Hendricks) Kok. He grew up on a farm southwest of Hettinger and attended the Swanson elementary school. He then attended Hettinger High School graduating with the Class of 1943. Bud was inducted into the US Army in June of 1945. He served in the European Theatre during WWII. He was discharged in April of 1947. Read More	ALFRED HARRY KOK "Bud" was born June 13, 1925 at rural Ellingson, SD to Arthur and Dora (Hendricks) Kok. He grew up on a farm southwest of Hettinger and attended the Swanson elementary school. He then attended Hettinger High School graduating with the Class of 1943. Bud was inducted into the US Army in June of 1945. He served in the European Theatre during WWII. He was discharged in April of 1947. On November 7, 1949, he was united in marriage to Edith Englehart at the Bethany Church in rural Ellingson. They farmed and ranched west of Lodgepole until moving to Hettinger in 1978. To this union six children were born, Sheila, Valerie, Alan, Mardell, Lori, and Lyndon. Bud worked at Orval's Implement from 1978 until 1997. He entered Hillcrest Care Center in 1999 and passed from this life there on Wednesday, October 5, 2005. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, and spending time outdoors. But most of all he enjoyed spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren. Bud was a member of the Hettinger Lutheran Church, and the Johnson-Melary American Legion Post #115 for over 50 years. Grateful for having shared his life are his wife, Edith, of Hettinger; children, Sheila (Rusty) Cothren, Glenrock, WY, Valerie (Fred) Collins, Hettinger, Alan (Ann) Kok, Beulah, ND, Mardell Martin, Sisseton, SD, Lori (Lynn) Pagel, Chaska, MN and Lyndon (Jane) Kok, of Belle Fourche, SD; brother, Dean (Vita) Kok, Hettinger; 15 grandchildren, 7 great grandchildren and many friends and other relatives. He was preceded in death by his parents. The Memorial Service for Alfred H. " Bud" Kok, age 80, of Hettinger will be held Saturday, October 8, at the Hettinger Lutheran Church. Pastor Kathleen Dettmann and Pastor Robert Boxrud will officiate with inurnment in the Hettinger Cemetery with full military honors afforded by the Johnson-Melary American Legion Post #115 of Hettinger. Arrangements by Evanson-Jensen Funeral Home in Hettinger.
