Jones died at 7 o'clock Nov. 8, 1925, at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Aletha Dickey at Creston, Ia., after an illness of about three weeks. He was born in Kentucky July 1, 1839. With his parents he emigrated, settling in Adair county in 1852, where he resided until his death. During the Civil war he freighted to Denver, Col. At the age of 27 years he was united in marriage to Rosie Fuller and four children were born to them, Nora Skellenger and Arno Jones of Mason City, Flora Kent of Brooklyn, Ia., and Maggie Power of Fontanelle. In 1882 he was preceded in death by his wife. On Nov. 165, 1889 he was united in marriage to Laura M. Walton at Fontanelle. To them seven children were born, Jasper J. of Chicago, Alfred of Woodward, Ia., Carrie Diers and Aletha Dickey of Creston, Electa Parkis, Paul and Marietta Jones of Greenfield. He leaves to mourn his death a wife, 11 children, 23 grandchildren, 17 great grandchildren and two sisters, Mrs. Polly Ann Duncan of Idaho, Mrs. Cynthia McQuire of Council Bluff. Also other relatives and a host of friends. Services were held at the Dickey home this morning and the funeral was held at 3 o'clock this afternoon at Fontanelle with burial in the Fontanelle cemetery.
