Alfred John Peters was born on November 6, 1937, the son of Fred and Alice (DeBoer) Peters. He grew up in rural Lennox and attended Bedford Country School, Schoffelman Country School and Lennox High School. Read More	Alfred Peters, 82, of Lennox, SD, died suddenly, Tuesday evening, May 5, 2020 of natural causes, while working in his backyard. Alfred John Peters was born on November 6, 1937, the son of Fred and Alice (DeBoer) Peters. He grew up in rural Lennox and attended Bedford Country School, Schoffelman Country School and Lennox High School. As an infant he was baptized and later confirmed at the Trinity Lutheran Church, Tea, SD. On November 12, 1955 he was united in marriage to Eunice Hagena at the Delaware Reformed Church, rural Lennox. The couple lived in the Davis and Lennox areas while farming and moved into Lennox in 1963. Alfred was employed by Cargill in Lennox as the feed mill manager from 1959 until retiring in 1988. He then went to work for Nordstrom Equipment and later Riekes Equipment from 1988 until 2004. For the past several years, Alfred enjoyed driving cars for Jerry's Auto. Alfred was an active and faithful member of the Second Reformed Church in Lennox where he had served as a Deacon and Elder. He was a member of the Lennox Volunteer Fire Department for 23 years and Lennox Area Ambulance for 5 years. He was a charter member of the Southeastern South Dakota Threshermen's Association in Lennox. He enjoyed restoring old cars and tractors. His wife, children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren were very important to Alfred. He especially enjoyed doing "little projects" in the garage with his two great-grandsons, Dawson and Gavin. He treasured the nearly 65 years of marriage to his high school sweetheart and best friend, Eunice. Besides his parents and parents-in-law, Alfred was preceded in death by two brothers-in-law, William Carlson and Ervin Eltze. Grateful for having shared his life are his wife Eunice; children: Lynette (Allan) Fodness, Lennox and Gregg (Donna) Peters, Wasilla, AK; grandchildren: Angela (Dan) Smit, Lennox, Melissa Fodness, Lennox and AJ (Courtney) Fodness, Lennox; step-grandson, Ken (Julie) Anderson, Wasilla, AK; great-grandchildren: Dawson and Gavin Smit, Lennox and Oaklie and Laikyn Fodness, Lennox; step-great-grandchildren: Joseph, Matthew, Katie and Abbie Anderson, Wasilla, AK; siblings: sisters, Catherine (Harley) Kuper and Bette Carlson, brother, Roger Peters, all of Sioux Falls, as well as other relatives and a host of friends. Due to health restrictions, private family services will be held at Second Reformed Church, Lennox with burial in the Lennox Cemetery. Dindot-Klusmann FH - May 6, 2020
