Description	:	Alfred Lubaugh Bernier DiZerega III was born the son of Alfred L.B. DiZerega II and Lucy Harrison DiZerega in Leesburg, VA. He graduated from Fishburne Military Academy in 1944, then joined the U.S. Navy, serving during World War II until being demobilized in 1947. DiZerega II and Lucy Harrison DiZerega in Leesburg, VA. He graduated from Fishburne Military Academy in 1944, then joined the U.S. Navy, serving during World War II until being demobilized in 1947. During that time, he documented the airborne assault of Manila. He earned the National Defense, American Campaign, Asiatic/Pacific and WWII Victory medals. Alfred L.B. Di Zerega III and Mary Porter Evans were married on June 18, 1949, at Christ Church, North Conway, New Hampshire. Mary was the daughter of Philip G and Alice R Evans. She was a 1949 graduate of Salem College. They had two children. In 1946, Alfred and Mary DiZerega divorced. She later married a Mr. Savard. Mary Porter Evans Savard died on August 4, 1998. On June 18, 1957, Alfred di Zerega and Janet Ann Uhl Rogers were married in Denver, Colorado, with Judge Philip B. Gilliam officiating. She was the daughter of Henry W and Edith Uhl. Janet Ann Uhl Rogers had two sons from a previous marriage. Her sons were adopted by Alfred DiZerega. Alfred and Janet DiZerega separated in March 1973 and were divorced on March 15, 1976, in Loudoun County, Virginia. Janet DiZerega later married William "Doc" Strawbridge. She died on May 29, 1993, in Melbourne, Florida. On October 4, 1977, Alfred DiZerega and Virginia Mary "Ginny" Sams were married in Loudoun County, Virginia. They separated in January 1987 and divorced on July 15, 1988, in Loudoun County. After WWII, he worked in the building industry in Colorado. From the 1960s to his death, he continued that work in the Loudoun County area. His parents and two older sisters Florence Ashbrook and Lucy Rich preceded him in death. A sister, daughter, adopted son, grandchild, great grandchild, as well as a number of nephews and nieces survive him. A service was conducted at St Peter's Episcopal Church, Purcellville at 1:00 pm on Wednesday, July 8. Burial was at Union Cemetery. After the service, family and friends were welcomed at his birthplace, Rock Spring Farm, 329 Loudoun St SW to celebrate his life. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations could be made to the Leesburg Volunteer Fire Department, PO Box 2377, Leesburg, VA 20177.
