Coy Jr., age 84, formerly of W. 48th St., Ashtabula, died early Saturday morning, Oct. 20, 2007, at the Carington Park Nursing Home, where he had been a patient the past four months. He was born Oct. 22, 1922, in Linesville, Pa., a son of the late Alfred M. and Flossie (Stinson) Coy Sr. and has been a resident of Ashtabula most of his life. He married Iris Brockhurst on Dec. 28, 1950 at St. Peter’s Episcopal Church. Mr. Coy was a Veteran of the U.S. Army, serving during World War II, and had received a Purple Heart. He retired in 1986 as a truck driver for Ashtabula Gas & Oil Co. Mr. Coy is a member of St. Peter’s Episcopal Church and the Plymouth Volunteer Fire Dept. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, gardening and being with family. Survivors include a daughter, Elizabeth A. Coy of Ashtabula; a son, Robert A. (Myla) Coy of Ashtabula; three grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Iris, earlier this year; three brothers, Donald, Ernest and Harold Coy; and four sisters, Maybell Burtt, Margaret Coy, Myrta Gant and Sarah Smith. Funeral Services will be 11 a.m. Wednesday, Oct. 24, 2007, at St. Peter’s Episcopal Church, 4901 Main Ave., Ashtabula, with the Rev. Fred Grimm, of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, officiating. Burial will follow in Maple Grove Cemetery, Plymouth Township. Visitation will be 10 to 11 a.m. Wednesday at the church. Memorial Contributions may be directed to St. Peter’s Episcopal Church at the above address or to Hospice of the Western Reserve, 1166 Lake Ave., Ashtabula, Ohio 44004.
