McNulty Dead Perhaps the first direct evidence Cherokee people had of the much talked of telegraphers strike was on Sunday when the wife and children of A. McNulty arrived with his remains from Colorado. They had tried to notify relatives here but could not get a message through. The shock to the friends can be imagined when it is known that they did not even know that he was sick. Upon arrival here the remains were taken to the home of Albert Addington, from which place the funeral services were held on Monday and interment made in the Cherokee cemetery. Obituary Alfred McNulty was born in St. Clair county, Illinois, on August 17th, 1837, and died in Lincoln county, Colorado, on August 15th, 1907, aged 69 years, 11 months and 28 days. He emigrated from Illinois when he was 19 years old and settled in Western Missouri where he was married. Two children were born, one of which survives him. He was married the second time in 1882, and the result of this union was three children two of whom with their mother survive his departure. He has one brother, Sol McNulty, who lives near Mineral. He enlisted in the war of the Rebellion on May 1st, 1863, and was discharged July 7th, 1865, having served his country faithfully and well for over two years. He was a member of the Free Will Baptist Church in Western Missouri; there being no church of his adoption here he never moved his membership. He expressed his readiness to go and be at rest. He was a member of the G.A.R., I.O.O.F., A.H.T.A., and Rebekah lodges at Cherokee, in all of which he was an earnest and diligent worker. A good man has gone to rest.
