Stenberg, 77, of 1761 Main Street, Newington, a former Newington selectman and a founder of that town's volunteer fire department, died Saturday at Hartford Hospital after a short illness. Mr. Stenberg was widely known as a genealogist and had compiled the family histories of such local families as James Lee Loomis, Austin D. Barney and John F. Rolfe. Born in Sweden He was born in Blekinge, Sweden, and came to this country 58 years ago. He and his wife, the former Mina Birch, celebrated their golden wedding anniversary on July 2, 1946. Besides his wife, Mr. Stenberg leaves three sons, Arthur B. Stenberg of Hartford, Algot Stenberg of New York, and Carl B, Stenberg of Farmington; three daughters, Mrs. Harry A. Webster of; Newington, Mrs. James W. Fitzgerald of Hartford, and Mrs. Allen D. Moore of West Hartford; ten grandchildren and two greatgrandchildren. The funeral will be held Tuesday at 2p.m. at the First Church of Christ Congregational of Newington, with burial in Center Cemetery, Newington.
