Description	:	BUXTON - Alice A. Gilbert, 91, passed away on May 6, 2013, at The Cedars Nursing Home in Portland. She was born in Winslow on Aug. 6, 1921, to the late John and Amelia (Blanchard) LeGoff. After attending school, she went on to work at various jobs and later became a certified nursing assistant for more than 20 years at Mount Merici in Waterville. Alice will always be remembered for her strong work ethic. Gilbert, 91, passed away on May 6, 2013, at The Cedars Nursing Home in Portland. She was born in Winslow on Aug. 6, 1921, to the late John and Amelia (Blanchard) LeGoff. After attending school, she went on to work at various jobs and later became a certified nursing assistant for more than 20 years at Mount Merici in Waterville. Alice will always be remembered for her strong work ethic. She enjoyed cooking and being with animals and her pets; however, it was her love of family -- especially her grandchildren -- that was most important to her. Alice was predeceased by her beloved husband, Maurice Gilbert; a son who died at age 2, Peter; and siblings J. Wilfred, Arthur and Charles LeGoff. She is survived by her daughter, Rosemary Glennie, and her husband, Mark, of Standish; grandchildren Erin and Kristen Glennie; and niece Nancy LeGoff, of Smithfield. Alice's family would like to thank the staff at The Cedars for their care and support since 2008. A graveside service will be at St. Francis Cemetery in Waterville. (Morning Sentinel 5/8/2013)
