Read More	The Altoona Herald, Altoona, IA July 7, 1921, page 1 Mrs. Frank Yant Passed Away, Friday Mrs. Frank Yant, who was stricken with paralysis some time ago and who had been in a very critical condition for some time, passed away on last Friday night at her home. Alice Belle Pence was born May 24, 1856 at Picquay, Ohio, and died at her home in Altoona, Iowa July 2, 1921 at the age of 65 years, 1 month and 7 days. In 1875 she came with her parents to Altoona, where on December 27, 1876 she was united in marriage to Franklin Yant. To this union were born five children one daughter Martha wife of Edd Hick, having died March 7, 1909. The remaining children Mrs. Addie Alexander, of Indianola, Mrs. Maud Hick, Mrs. Lotta Ford and Van Buren Yant, all of Altoona, with her husband were all with her during her sickness and at the time of her death. She was the oldest in a family of six children, one brother and two sisters having preceded her to the home beyond. One brother, Alfred M. Pence, of Cambridge, Iowa and one sister Mrs. Rosa Burton, of Granger, Iowa, survive. There also remain ten grand children and one great grand child, besides numerous relatives and friends. She was converted and joined the Christian church in 1876, but because of her children joining the Methodist church, she in 1906 transferrred her membership to that denomination and has ever since remained a faithful member. Mrs. Yant was a good wife and a good mother to her children always by her life and teachings trying to instill right principles into their mind and giving of a true home for her family. She was an old settler in this community and her neighbors, who have lived near her during all these years speak in highest terms of Mrs. Yant as one who was alway ready to help others and who will be greatly missed by all. Funeral services were held in the Methodist church Sunday afternoon conducted by Rev. F. T. Stevenson assisted by Rev. Strawn and Dr. Kershner. Her son Van Buren and five grandsons, Harry, Merlin and Millard Alexander and Clyde and Earl Hick, acted as pall bearers. She was laid to rest in the Altoona cemetery.
