Utt Sr., went to dwell with the Lord Wednesday, June 12, 2002, at Northern Hospital of Surry County. Mrs. Utt was born Oct. 2, 1925, in Carroll County, Va., to the late Arthur M. and Bessie Chappell Towe. Mrs. Utt was born Oct. 2, 1925, in Carroll County, Va., to the late Arthur M. and Bessie Chappell Towe. She worked at Lynn Hosiery Mill and volunteered as a pink lady at Northern Hospital of Surry County. The family attended Fellowship Baptist Church while growing up. Survivors include three daughters and two sons-in-law: Belle Utt and Joe Johnson of Charlotte, Linda Utt and Michael Towe of Pinnacle and Lisa Utt of Mount Airy; four sons and three daughters-in-law: Leonard A. Utt Jr. of Lawrenceville, Ga., Jerry and Theresa Utt of Kings Mountain and Jackie and Belinda Utt and Mike and Jane Utt, all of Mount Airy; 14 grandchildren and spouses: Angela Chandler, Sheri Johnson, Kristy and Mark Brooks, Joey Johnson, Steven and Ginger Towe, Allison Towe, Kimberly Towe, Ashley Wilcox, Karly and Gabe Morris, Benjamin Utt, Darren and Misty Utt, Alicia Utt, Patrick Utt and Scarlet Utt; seven great-grandsons: Niklaus, Alexander, Tyler, Matthew, Ethan, Travis and Riley; a special friend, Lewis Nunn of Mount Airy; and several nieces and nephews. In addition to her husband and parents, Mrs. Utt was preceded in death by a sister, Lois Byrd; and a brother, Roy Towe. The funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, June 15, 2002, at Moody Funeral Home Chapel of Mount Airy conducted by the Rev. Dink Haynes and the Rev. Tony Griffin. Burial will be at Oak Grove Baptist Church Cemetery in Cana, Va. The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 this evening at the funeral home and other times at the home of Jackie and Belinda Utt, 161 Highland Ave., Mount Airy. Flowers will be accepted or memorial contributions may be made to the American Diabetes Association, 1660 Duke St., Alexandria, Va. 22314. (Moody Funeral Services)
