Description	:	Alice was born June 17, 1923 in Lake Park, the daughter of Mae and Dick Fike. A tomboy, she loved to be outdoors fishing and swimming with her older brother Duane. She played basketball and was the editor of the Spirit Lake High School newspaper before she graduated in 1941. She went on to the AIB Business School in Des Moines. She married her high school sweetheart, Richard Lusher, and they lived together in Seattle for a year before he was killed in the service during WWII. A tomboy, she loved to be outdoors fishing and swimming with her older brother Duane. She played basketball and was the editor of the Spirit Lake High School newspaper before she graduated in 1941. She went on to the AIB Business School in Des Moines. She married her high school sweetheart, Richard Lusher, and they lived together in Seattle for a year before he was killed in the service during WWII. During the war, Alice served her country as a member of the WAVES, and worked in the Pentagon as civil service in Washington D.C. One of her fondest memories was that of the trees blooming along Pennsylvania Avenue the spring that she was there. After the war, she returned to Des Moines, where she worked as an editor for the Boy Scouts of American befor e moving to Storm Lake in 1952. She lived in Storm Lake for nearly 50 years, working for Vilas & Co., Gregerson Produce, and Bil-Mar Foods. She married Kristian Jensen on June 2, 1956 in the Assembly of God Church, and together they were part of a country western band for many years. She played the accordion and loved to dance. She and Kris were members of the Moose Lodge, the Assembly of God church, and later, St. John Lutheran Church. In 1971, Alice traveled with Kris to Denmark, his homeland, where she was invited to light the Christmas tree in town square, a great honor bestowed on special guests. In the early seventies, she moved with her daughter Lyn and family to Virginia and later visited them every summer when they settled in Denair, Calif. in the 1980's. She was present at the births of her three grandchildren in Storm Lake, and traveled by bus to North Dakota, Alaska, and Colorado for the births of her great-grandchildren, and was the first family member to hold them. She was generous all of her life to family, friends, and strangers alike. She was preceded in death by her parents, Mae and Dick; an infant brother and sister, Roscoe and Irene; a sister, Neva Koppen; a brother, Duane Fike; and a husband, Richard Lusher.
