Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Monday, June 06, 2001, from St. Paul's United Church of Christ, Eureka, with Pastor Diane Rood-Kiesz leading the service. Organist will be Willis Kiesz and the congregation will sing "In The Garden" "Precious Lord, take my Hand" and "Softly and Tenderly." Soloist Ronda Lapp will sing "What a day that will Be." Read More	Alice Kurle, 82, Eureka, died Friday, May 27, 2011, at the Eureka Community Hospital. Alice Doerr, daughter of Katherina (Burrer) and Jacob Doerr, was born 15 miles northeast of Eureka on June 21, 1928. This is the area where she grew up and attended school. Alice remained on the family farm for a few years, and helped her parents as well as neighbors. Alice married Harvey Kurle at the Hoffnungsfeld Congregational Church northeast of Eureka on February 02, 1947. The newlyweds first settled on Harvey's homeplace three and one half miles northeast of Eureka. In 1954, they moved into Eureka where they made their home. Alice was employed at various jobs in own until her retirement in 1990. For the past 18 months, she resided at the Avera Eureka Healthcare Center. Alice was an active member of the United Church of Christ and served on various offices in the UCC Ladies Aide and the Eureka American Legion Auxiliary. She was a devoted wife, mother and garndmother. She enjoyed sewing, needle work, and going on numerous travels with Harvey and other friends and relatives. Alice was skilled at hostig huge holiday meals and took pleasure in organizing large family rummage sales each summer. Grateful for having shared her life are her husband of 64 years, Harvey; her two daughters, Nancy (Richard) Curran of Veblen, South Dakota, and Debbie (Charlie) Erickson of Bismarck, North Dakota; four sisters, Irene Schiekau of Nipoma, California, Frances (Floyd) Kallenberger of Huron, South Dakota, Bernice (Ulane) Franklund of Wilton, North Dakota, and Delores Thurn of Wishek, North Dakota; six grandchildren and eight great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her mother on May 02, 1980, her father on April 18, 1957, her daughter (Karen Dais), two brothers (Oscar and Willie), and two sisters, Loretta Bender and Esther at age four. Casket bearers will be Tim Schmidt of Herreid, Ken Kurle, Mark Gruebele, Les Schock, Gary Oster, and Keith Kunz, all of Eureka. Lien Funeral Home, Eureka, South Dakota.
