Noble, 94, of Cherokee, Iowa, was lifted gently into the care of her Lord on October 11, 2017 under the care and support of Careage Hills staff and CRMC Hospice. Funeral services will be held on Monday, October 16th at 10:30 a.m. at the First United Methodist Church in Aurelia, Iowa. Rev. Tom Petersen will officiate. Burial will be in the Sunset View Cemetery at Washta, Iowa. There will be a family prayer service at 10:15 a.m. at the church on Monday. Visitation will be on Sunday from 1 p.m. until 6 p.m. with the family present from 4 p.m. until 6 p.m. at the Boothby Funeral Home in Cherokee, Iowa. Alice was born November 3, 1922 on the family farm in Woodbury County, Iowa to Frank & Belle (Kissinger) DeWitt. She began her education at Pilot #7 a one room school, and graduated in 1940 from Cherokee High School. Alice was a strong and resilient woman, born in the middle of a boisterous family with eight children that was rich with laughter and love. Her siblings and cousins were a lifelong bedrock of support and friendship Alice taught school from 1940 until 1948 in Plymouth, Woodbury and Cherokee Country Schools. She was united in marriage to Milo I Noble on July 29, 1948 in Cherokee, Iowa. Upon their marriage, Alice and Milo honeymooned all the way to Portland, Oregon, spending the first night of their marriage in Valentine, Nebraska and the first three years of their 69 year marriage in Portland, Oregon. Alice and Milo returned their roots in Iowa to begin farming and raising their two children. Alice enjoyed traveling, flower gardening, and polka music. She was the youngest 94 year old around and could wade into a crowd of strangers with the uncanny ability to strike up a conversation and relate to everyone she met. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Aurelia, Iowa, United Methodist Women and Brooke Friendship Club. She also volunteered many years as a poll worker. The greatest joy in her life were her granddaughters and great grandson, who added richly to the tapestry of her life and her legacy. She spoke frequently of them, and was there to offer her support and love. In recent years, Alice enjoyed helping a special nephew document her DeWitt family history. She always looked forward to his visits and the opportunity it provided Alice and her baby sister to relive their childhood memories. She was preceded in death by her parents, sisters Doris DeWitt and Naomi (Carl) Fuhrman; brothers Ralph (Anne) DeWitt, Carroll DeWitt, Donald (Marie) DeWitt. Alice will be sadly missed by her husband Milo of Cherokee, Iowa; daughter Blythe (Ivan) Schaller of Wausau, Wisconsin; son Kelly Noble of Aurelia, Iowa; granddaughters: Micaela Schaller and her partner Ben Kober of Maquoketa, Iowa and ; Sierra (Ward) Schaller Cole of Washington D.C.; Elizabeth Noble of State Center, Iowa; great grandson Oliver Noble Rhodes; two sisters: Patricia Walker of Sedalia, Missouri; Arlene (Neil) Warner of Quimby, Iowa; also many nieces and nephews. The family would like to thank Brenda DeRoo, Dr. Chris Vandelune, Pastor Tom Petersen, Homechoice Home Health Care, CRMC Hospice and Careage Hills for their care and support to Alice and her family
