Born on Jan. 4, 1917 in Linesville, Pa., she was the daughter of the late Lottie Clairene Martin and Audley Vance Gay of Williamsfield, Ohio. Betty was a graduate of Kent State University and taught grammar school in Aurora, Ohio, before her marriage in June of 1941 to her husband of 48 years. Betty was a devoted wife, homemaker and mother. An avid gardener, reader and Journalier, she was a member of the GE Elfin Society wives sewing and reading groups. She enjoyed gardening, travel and planning of family get-togethers. Both Betty and Marvin were members of Springdale Presbyterian Church and sang in the choir for many years. She is survived by her sons, Robert Marvin Morse of Louisville, Ky., James Bruce Morse of Fort Myers, Fla., and Jonathan Gay Morse of Louisville and their wives: Pam and Leah; and three grandchildren, Eric Todd Morse of Fort Myers, Fla., and Elizabeth Lougherie Morse and Cynthia Martin Morse, both of Louisville, Ky. She was preceded in death by her late husband, Marvin Dudley Morse of Williamsfield, Ohio; siblings, Gordon Martin Gay of Youngstown, Ohio, Mary Jane Gay of Tucson, Ariz., and John Audley Gay of Anaheim, Calif.; and her parents. A Burial will be held in Williamfield Center Cemetery on Monday, Dec. 3, 2007, with visitation to follow from 2 to 6 p.m. at BAUMGARDNER FUNERAL HOME, 8569 Main St., Kinsman, Ohio. Expressions of sympathy may be made to the Memorial Fund of Springdale Presbyterian Church, 7812 Brownsboro Road, Louisville, Ky. 40241.
