She was born August 8, 1921 to James and Emma Murphy in Pickardville, North Dakota. She grew up in Twin Falls, Idaho along with her siblings, Leslie, Ruby, and Vernon. Alice Elizabeth Murphy Krause died April 2, 2015 at the Panorama retirement community in Lacey, Washington at the age of 93. She was born August 8, 1921 to James and Emma Murphy in Pickardville, North Dakota. She grew up in Twin Falls, Idaho along with her siblings, Leslie, Ruby, and Vernon. After graduating from high school in 1939, Alice enrolled at Washington State College (now WSU) where she met her future husband, Harry L. Krause. They were married for 66 years until Harry's death in 2010. Alice earned a bachelor's degree in Home Economics and a teaching certificate from WSC in 1944. Harry's teaching positions took them to various communities in eastern Washington. They lived in Harrington for 45 years, and Alice taught home economics in the high school for several years. Sewing and needlework were Alice's favorite pastimes. She sewed beautiful clothes, hand-stitched traditional quilts and wall hangings, and knit baby blankets. She also enjoyed playing golf at the Harrington Golf and Club. She was involved in many volunteer activities in Harrington and in Lacey, where she and Harry retired in 1998. Alice is survived by sons James (Pamela) and Richard (Lila) Krause, daughter Leslee (Len) Anderson, grandchildren Kristin Anderson, Scott (Kimberly) Anderson, Emily Krause (Dan Rubin), Alan (Melissa) Krause, Eric (Jennifer) Krause, and Ellen Krause Lehman (Mark). Her great-grandchildren are Dallas and Emmadelle Anderson, McKayla Krause, Lily Alice Rubin, Hayden and Reagan Krause, and Henry Lehman. She is also survived by her extended Murphy and Krause families. A memorial service will be held on Sunday, May 17th at 12:30 p.m. at the Panorama chapel in Lacey. A family graveside service will take place in June at the Sherman, Washington cemetery. Published in Spokesman-Review on Apr. 19, 2015
