She was born July 13, 1924 in Greentown the daughter of Homer D. and Millie (Helmuth) Sommers. She married Eugene N. Horner in Merrillville, Indiana on April 6, 1946 and he died January 16, 2007. Alice was a 1943 graduate of Greentown High School and worked as a bookkeeper for Norris Insurance in Amboy for 21 years, retiring in 1989. She was born July 13, 1924 in Greentown the daughter of Homer D. and Millie (Helmuth) Sommers. She married Eugene N. Horner in Merrillville, Indiana on April 6, 1946 and he died January 16, 2007. Alice was a 1943 graduate of Greentown High School and worked as a bookkeeper for Norris Insurance in Amboy for 21 years, retiring in 1989. She and her husband lived in Amboy most of their married life until retiring and becoming neighbors of their daughter in Kokomo in 1990. She was an active member of Morning Star Church. Survivors include one daughter, Joanna M. Hedrick and her husband Gene of Kokomo; two granddaughters, Angie Gingerich and her husband Kenny of Kokomo and Michelle Musgrave and her husband Jeff of Greentown; five great-grandchildren, Dustin E. Gingerich and his wife Savannah, Tyler A. Musgrave, Jesi J. Evans, Brooklyn N. Gingerich, and Jonah M. Evans; two great-great grandchildren, Dustin E. Gingerich, Jr. , and Kadence E. Gingerich, one sister, Anna Ruth Horner and her husband Mark of Kokomo; several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband and one great-grandson, Lance M. Gingerich; two brothers, Danny Sommers and Clayton Sommers; seven sisters, Elnora Jane Sommers, Erma Hochstedler, Sylvia Miller, Martha Sweitzer, Leona King, Berniece Ganger, and Pauline Horner. Funeral services will be at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, November 28, 2009 at Morning Star Church, 2900 E. Markland Ave., with Pastor Greg Reed officiating.
