Description	:	Mrs. Alice Eve Brechbill, Jewell, retired telephone operator and manager for more than 53 years, died at 1:30 a.m. today in Defiance City Hospital. Mrs. Brechbill, 79, first entered the hospital here in March, then was in Parkview Hospital, Fort Wayne, for a time, and last had been in the Defiance hospital since June. Carcinoma caused her death. Read More	Mrs. Alice Eve Brechbill, Jewell, retired telephone operator and manager for more than 53 years, died at 1:30 a.m. today in Defiance City Hospital. Mrs. Brechbill, 79, first entered the hospital here in March, then was in Parkview Hospital, Fort Wayne, for a time, and last had been in the Defiance hospital since June. Carcinoma caused her death. Mrs. Brechbill was born in Highland twp. on Dec. 4, 1886, a daughter of Hortson and Louisa (Deckrosh) Wellman. She was married in 1904 to Guy Brechbill, who died in 1927 Mrs. Brechbill had been an employee of the old Jewell telephone Co. since Aug. 29, 1911 until she retired on Sept. 1, 1964. The company and the community honored her on Aug. 27, 1961 with a reception in appreciation of her long years of service, without vacation, to that area. She and her husband moved to Jewell in 1911 from Ayersville, when the company suddenly needed a manager, repairman and operator because of a resignation. She continued there until her retirement. Surviving are three brothers, Charles Wellman, River Rest Home, Walter Wellman, Leipsic, and Harvey Wellman, Rt. 8, Defiance: and two sisters, Mrs. William (Nettie) Holman, Rt. 5, Defiance, and Mrs Zoma (Edna) Mansfield, Rt. 6, Defiance. A sister, Laura Wellman, preceded her in death. Mrs.Brechbill was a member of Independence Methodist Church, its WSCS, and the North Richland Get-Together Club. Friends may call after 7 p.m. Wednesday in the Mast and Mock funeral home where last rites will be conducted at 1:30 p.m. Friday by the Rev. Gerald E. Mallott of Defiance College.
