Memorial contributions may be designated to the Kellogg Christian Church or to the Kellogg Historical Museum The daughter of Jerry and Faye Shadden Fair, Alice was born on June 1, 1930, in Grinnell. She was a 1947 graduate of Grinnell High School. On February 6, 1949, in Grinnell, she married Carroll "Shorty" Anderson and the couple farmed in Jasper County, near Kellogg. She was an Energizer Bunny. Her most important job was working with her husband in the family business, raising purebred spotted hogs. She was a Porkette, the women's branch of the Iowa Pork Producers Association. As time marched on, the Porkettes became full-fledged members of the organization, just like it should be. After retirement they enjoyed traveling. In the community of Kellogg, she was active in the Historical Museum, she was an Election Judge (April ate the check). She was a room mother and she started the PTA. At Kellogg Christian Church she was a Sunday school teacher, Bible School teacher, Elder, and belonged to CWF. She was a Blue Bird leader, Campfire leader, and 4-H leader. She also enjoyed the neighbor group, the Sunshine Club. She was a seamstress. She dearly enjoyed genealogy. She traveled to North Carolina and Tennessee, finding more family. She loved adventures. She collected old dresses and shared her talent by doing dress shows as fundraisers for different organizations. There probably was not any information about vintage clothes that she did not know. Her children each have favorite memories of her; she used Ponds on her face at night and really lathered it on, so when they kissed her they just slid down her face. It also explains why she looked so good for her age. Alice and Shorty were married a long time and loved each other very much. After he passed, she and Bob Rutherford became special friends and the family loved it. He and his family were old friends and her family thanks them for their love of Alice and her family. Alice is survived by three daughters and their families, Marcia (Bruce) Kading, granddaughter, Hye-Kyong (Adam) Kim and great-grandchildren YaShia, Joua, Pen-Law, Dey-Xia, Hli, Gaozhi, and Thuy; her daughter, Jill Anderson; and her daughter, April (Charlie) Manning, granddaughter, Alexandra (Alex) Manning and great-granddaughter, Isabella (Izzy) Manning; her sister, June (Mac) McCrary, and her brother Jack (Virgene) Fair. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Shorty; her daughter, Beth Estelle; her grandson, Jake; and her friend, Bob Rutherford. Smith Funeral Home, Grinnell, Iowa
