(Source: Gage County, NE Marriage Records) ================================================= Beatrice Daily Sun (Beatrice, NE), Wednesday, July 14, 1971 Mrs. Alice Trauernicht Loschen, a former Beatrice resident who's now living at the Good Samaritan Village in Hastings, celebrated her 99th birthday June 16. Born in Golden Juction, Ill., she was left with grandparents at the age of four when her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Peter Trauernicht, moved to Gage County near Beatrice, by covered wagon. She joined them here later on, where they lived in a dugout on a farm. Mrs. Loschen, who's been blind for the past 20 years, remembers being robbed by Jesse James and his gang while traveling on a train in Missouri. She married Herman Loschen in 1890, and after his death in 1919, she moved to Glenville and Hastings area where she has spent the last 45 years. Eleven of her 14 children ar still living. She has 36 grand-children, 93 great-grandchildren and 120 great-great-grandchildren. Locally, she has several nieces and one nephew, including Mrs. John Wallman, Mary Hofling, Mrs. Lem Oltmans, Mrs Kathryn DeBuhr, Mrs. Lena Folkerts, all of Beatrice, and Mrs. Louise Thompson and Reiner Parde, both of Adams. ============================================== Beatrice Daily Sun (Beatrice, NE), Tuesday, June 20, 1972 Former Gage resident celebrates centennial A former Gage Countian, Mrs. Alice Loschen celebrated her 100th birthday June 16 at the Good Samaritan Village in Hastings, where she is a resident. An open house was given in her honor on her birthday, and was hosted by several of her 11 living children. Mrs. Loschen was born in 1872 in Golden Junction, Ill., the first of 10 children of Peter and Jennie Trauernicht. Her parents moved to Gage County near Beatrice when she was four, and she joined them later. She was married in 1890 to Herman Loschen, an area farmer. A few years later they moved to farm near LeRoy, Kan., where her husband died in 1919. Mrs. Loschen moved to Glenvil in 1926 and has lived the last 46 years in the Hastings area. She has 36 grandchildren, 95 great grandchildren and 123 great-great grandchildren. Several of her relatives live in the Beatrice area. ALICE LOSCHEN, MOTHER OF CHELSEA WOMAN, DIES AT 101 Mrs. Alice J. Loschen, age 101, mother of Mrs. Joseph Kriva, died at the Good Samaritan Village, Hastings, Nebr., where she had been a patient. Services were held in St. Paul's Lutheran church, Hastings, where she was a member. Dr. Leeland Sokor, pastor, officiated. Burial was in the Genvil cemetery (sic). Surviving are five sons, John, Van Meter, Pete, Sunnyside, Wash., Harry, Odon, Ind., Ralph of Upland and Dick of Waukee; six daughters, Mrs. Dena Adams, Chehalis, Wash., Mrs. Joseph (Carrie) Kriva, Chelsea, Mrs. Emma Rabbe, Mrs. Julia Hinrichs, Mrs. Gertrude Detter, and Mrs. Albertha Carl, all of Hastings; 41 grandchildren, 114 great-grandchildren, 71 great-great grandchildren. Also two brothers, John Trauernicht of Holstein and Tom Trauernicht of Hastings, one sister, Mrs. Bertha Van Boening, Hastings, survive. Loschen, died Tuesday at a retirement village. She was 101. She was a native of Champaign County, Ill., and had lived in Glenvil and Hastings the past 50 years. Services will be 2 p.m. Friday at First St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Hastings. Survivors include five sons and six daughters, 41 grandchildren, 84 great-grandchildren and 71 great-great grandchildren, and two brothers and a sister.
