Read More	Our Mother, Sister, Grandmother and Best Friend, Alice Kathryn Haines Willsey, 85, a 50 year resident of the Upper Wenatchee Valley, died Friday morning, May 6, 2005, at the Blossom Creek Memory Care Community in Wenatchee. She was born Alice Kathryn Haines on May 11, 1919, to George and Myra (Wallace) Haines at Sandpoint, Idaho. When she was eight years old, Mom and her younger brothers, George and Henry were orphaned. Her formal education ended at the 11th grade. Mom assumed the role of protector and supporter for her brothers, which created an exceptionally strong lifelong bond between the three. On August 6, 1938, Alice was married to Earl Willsey at Wenatchee. They resided in Leavenworth until 1952, when they moved to Peshastin. Together, they had four children. Because of her empathy for homeless kids, Alice also became a foster parent numerous times and adopted two additional children. Mom worked in a number of jobs so that her kids could have some of the things never afforded her. She retired in 1987. Mom was extremely protective and supportive of her children, and was a perfect role model for perseverance and stubbornness in principle. To the end, Mom had a quick and incisive wit. She had an uncanny ability to "put people in their place" (especially her children). Mom was also a wonderful cook, a skilled seamstress, a knowledgeable florist, and an avid reader. As a life-long Christian, Mom had faith in eternity and the Grace of God. Perhaps that is why she would never say good-bye to anyone. Alice Willsey is survived by her brother, Henry "Carl" of Vancouver, Washington; her children and their spouses, Lovetta Walker of East Wenatchee, Kaye and Darrell George of Spokane, Buzz and Kathy Willsey of Peshastin, Sam and Kristie Willsey of Cashmere, Michael Willsey of Bellingham and Dana Jones of Orlando, Florida as well as eleven grandchildren, sixteen great-grandchildren with two more great grandchildren due this month. She was preceded in death by a son, Earl Ray Willsey and her brother, George. Mom will be reunited with her infant son in a private Family Service.
