Mrs. Alice Pistole died at her home in Monroe Sunday evening at seven o'clock as a result of a stroke of paralysis on Friday afternoon. Her sudden death is the fourth one that has visited her family. Her husband, Mr. James Pistole, died suddenly of heart failure at the age of 46. Her son, Mr. Watt Pistol, was killed by a train in 1894. Her daughter, Miss Jessie Pistol, was drowned in 1913 while driving across a small creek. The funeral was held yesterday afternoon, services being conducted by Rev. J. E. Abernethy of the Methodist church, of which she was a member. Mrs. Pistole was the daughter of the late Michael Osborne, who was in his day one of the best known men who ever lived in the county. He died 28 years ago, aged 85 years. His home across the creek where Mr. W. H. Phifer now lives was one of the original and conspicuous homesteads of the county. He had nine daughters and one son. Mrs. W. F. Morgan of Monroe is the only one now living. One daughter was the mother of Mr. W. J. Hudson and another daughter was the mother of Mrs. W. H. Phifer. Mrs. Pistole was 67 years old. She was married immediately after the war and is survived by one son, Mr. John Pistole, and four daughters, Misses Mittie, Glennie, Audrey, and Ina Pistole. For many years, she lived on Benton Heights, but later moved to her farm in Buford township. Last fall the family moved to Monroe.
