Description	:	Alice was born in Shelby County Iowa. According to her obituary, she married in 1910. In the same year, she is listed in the census as living in Yuma, Yuma, Arizona. The marriage produced one son named for his father and two daughters. Some time after the birth of her third child in 1917, but before the census in 1920, Alice returned to Iowa with the children while her husband stayed in Arizona. According to her obituary, she married in 1910. In the same year, she is listed in the census as living in Yuma, Yuma, Arizona. The marriage produced one son named for his father and two daughters. Some time after the birth of her third child in 1917, but before the census in 1920, Alice returned to Iowa with the children while her husband stayed in Arizona. In 1928 or 1929, her husband disappeared. She endured many years of not knowing what had become of him. On Christmas Day in 1935, he was found dead. Alice supported her family by working outside of the home. She began her career as a teacher which is what took her to Arizona originally. She also taught in North Dakota and Wyoming. She later became the superintendent of schools and all reports are that she was re-elected time and again for her excellent service to Iowa county Iowa. All three of her children grew up to be teachers. It seems she faced tough circumstances and succeeded through determination and tenacity.
