Description	:	Alice Louise (Sluka) Votipka was born to Charles J. and Theresa (Bures) Sluka on April 3, 1916 on the family farm near Geneva Nebraska in Chelsea township and passed away at the Fillmore County Hospital in Geneva on December 22, 2013 at age 97 years, 8 months, and 19 days. Read More	Alice Louise (Sluka) Votipka was born to Charles J. and Theresa (Bures) Sluka on April 3, 1916 on the family farm near Geneva Nebraska in Chelsea township and passed away at the Fillmore County Hospital in Geneva on December 22, 2013 at age 97 years, 8 months, and 19 days. Alice had a younger sister Ann Sluka,(Mrs. Earl Jacox) who she was very close to all her life. Alice attended elementary school in a one room country school and graduated from Geneva High School in 1933. Alice taught in country schools 3 years and then attended the University of Nebraska for summer school and taught another 3 years. These are the country schools that she was a teacher in, District 6, District 67, District 65, and District 45. Alice married Fred B. Votipka on Oct. 10, 1939 in York Nebraska. To them one son was born, Everett Frederick on March 24, 1940. They lived and farmed southeast of Geneva for close to 40 years. Alice was a homemaker, mother, and farm wife, and took care of her family and her parents who lived close by. She and Fred moved to Geneva in 1976 where Alice enjoyed being in town and retired . When Fred passed away in 1989 she continued to live in their Geneva home. Alice moved to Heritage Crossings in Geneva Ne. when she could no longer stay in her home alone. Alice was preceded in death by her parents, husband, sister and brother-in-law. Alice is survived by her son Everett F. Votipka; 3 grandsons, Mark Votipka, Harold (Debbie) Votipka and Charles (Shannon) Votipka. Great-grandchildren Ariel Votipka, Andrew Votipka; step-great grandchildren, Billie Jean Wassom, Cheyenne Lane and Shania Lane; a niece Bonnie (Jacox) (Bill) Stiers; a great-niece Julie (Jacox) (Jeff ) White and great-great-niece Conner White. A private family graveside committal service was held on December 24, 2013 at the Geneva Public Cemetery with Kim Dunker officiating. Contributor: Lorelei Edwards (50493860)
