She passed away Monday, December 4, 2006 at the Masonic Home of Missouri in Kansas City, MO at the age of 96 years. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Clarence F. Margerum, and five siblings. She and her husband Clarence never had children of their own, but she is survived by several nieces and nephews. Read More	Alice (Miley) Margerum was born March 4, 1910, the daughter of Noble and Mary (Adams) Miley, on a homestead near Lake Andes, South Dakota. She passed away Monday, December 4, 2006 at the Masonic Home of Missouri in Kansas City, MO at the age of 96 years. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Clarence F. Margerum, and five siblings. She and her husband Clarence never had children of their own, but she is survived by several nieces and nephews. She was highly respected and fondly called "Aunt Alice" by literally hundreds of children and adults alike. Alice lived in the Northeast area of Kansas City for over 70 years. She worked as an instructor in promotional sales at Montgomery Ward for over 35 years. Alice was a member of the White Avenue Methodist Church for over 65 years. In addition to having taught adults and children Sunday School classes for many years, she was a remarkable speaker and delivered a fine sermon when requested. Alice was an active member of the Eastern Star, the Blue Valley Chapter #2 for over 50 years and received the Life Membership status. She served as their Chaplin for several years. Alice also worked with the Laubach Literacy Action, teaching many newcomers to speak and write English. She volunteered as a helper at the Holy Cross Parish Nutrition Center for several years. Eastern Star Service and Funeral Services were held at the White Avenue Methodist Church in Kansas City, MO on Friday, December 8, 2006 at 10:00 a.m. Visitation and Funeral Services were also held Saturday, December 9, 2006 at the Duncan Funeral Chapel in Birch Tree. Interment was in the Oak Forest Cemetery at Birch Tree under the direction of Duncan Funeral Home of Birch Tree.
