Mrs. McCausland was born Aug. 26, 1924, in Chula, Mo., the daughter of John W. and Mary Alice (Fitzpatrick) Donovan. The family moved between Iowa and Missouri before moving to Ireton, Iowa, in 1939. She married John R. Corey on Jan. 1, 1944. She married Vernon L. "Mac" McCausland on July 21, 1971, in Sioux City. He died Jan. 24, 1979, in Sioux City. She moved to Sioux City around 1950. She was employed as a cashier for a number of businesses including the Tomba Ballroom, Shore Acres, Kresge Variety Store, Schwartz Grocery Store and the Boulevard Food Store. She also did domestic work for Dr. Leiter and his wife for many years. She was a member of the Square Knots. She also did volunteer work for the Cathedral, the Aid Center and the Soup Kitchen. She was a member of the Cathedral of the Epiphany Catholic Church. She enjoyed gardening, either flowers or vegetables. She loved to cook and she sewed. She liked to travel with her family and friends, but most of all, she loved spending time with her children and grandchildren. Survivors include two sons and their wives, John and Karen Corey of Castana, Iowa, and Robert and Marlene Corey of Sioux City; seven grandchildren, Mary Alicia Cieri, Malissa Corey, John Junior Corey, Robert Lee Corey, Christel Tanner, Shawn Corey and Brian Corey; 11 great-grandchildren; two brothers and their wives, John and Betty Donovan of Sioux Falls, S.D., and Burt and Dorothy Donovan of Wheatland, Wyo.; and three sisters, Mildred and her husband, William Vander Weide of Sioux Center, Iowa, Hildred Vander Weide, of Sioux Center and Betty and her husband, Frank Weyer of Greenwood, Ark. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; three brothers, Arthur Larson, James and Daniel Donovan; four sisters, Lora Cullen, Evelyn Jacobs, Clara Wingate and Kathryn Vanderpol; and a granddaughter, Teresa Corey. Pallbearers will be Shawn and Brian Corey, John Junior Corey and Robert Lee Corey. Memorials in her name may be directed to the American Diabetes Association. Sioux City Journal
