She was born May 8,1929 in Old Fields, WV, a daughter of the late Edna Louella (Smith) Hose and Jesse James Hose. She married K. She was born May 8,1929 in Old Fields, WV, a daughter of the late Edna Louella (Smith) Hose and Jesse James Hose. She married K. Surviving are sons James Richard "Dick" Ash and wife Robin (Belcher) of Huntington, Kevin Ash and wife Dianna (Tomblin) of Ashland, daughter Kathy (Ash) Head and husband Chris of Hurricane, grandchildren Alicea (Ash) Lewis and husband Russ of Huntington, Keith Ash of Lexington, Katy Ash of Ashland, her great-granddaughter Ella Lewis, her faithful Kitty Cat Sweety, sister-in-laws Kathleen Gertrude (Ash) Polino, Phyllis Louella (Kessel) Hose, and Hazel Pauline (Funkhouser) Hose, brother-in-law Harry Jack Kuykendall and numerous other relatives. There were several other people over the years that she loved deeply and considered “one of her kids” (you know who you are). Preceding her in death were all 8 of her siblings: Ethel Virginia (Hose) Whetzell, Odessa Catherine (Hose) Wilson, Tava Marie (Hose) Kuykendall, Grover James Hose, James Franklin Hose, Ernest Brown Hose, Olen Ray Hose, and Calvin Eugene "Jack" Hose, and a wonderful family friend, Charles Lee Buchanan. Alice was a graduate of Moorefield High School. During her life, she resided in Old Fields, Moorefield, Petersburg and Elkins before ending up in Huntington. She retired from the Cabell County Board of Education where she was employed as a Secretary for many years serving at Buffington, Lincoln, and Spring Hill Elementary. She loved the kids at the schools and the many wonderful friends she met that worked with her over the years. Many tummies were satisfied over the years through her wonderful cooking and her delicious Red Velvet and Italian Cream Cakes. She was a member of Madison Avenue Christian Church. Many friends came for visitation from 6 – 8 PM on Friday, October 27, 2017 at Reger Funeral Home. Funeral Services were conducted on Saturday, October 28, 2017 at 11 AM at Reger Funeral Chapel by Rev. Dr. Todd Adams. Burial followed at White Chapel Memorial Cemetery in Barboursville, WV. Alice's family would like to extend our gratitude to the Hospice Employees for their End of Life Comfort Care and to ALL the caring staff at The Village at Riverview for their attentiveness, wonderful care and love that they provided to her over the past two years.
