Description	:	Alice Marie Mouw, 89 of Sioux Center died Friday July 15 at the Sioux Center Community Hospital. A memorial service was Monday at 11 a.m. at Central Reformed Church of Sioux Center with Rev. Arnold Punt officiating. Interment was in Memory Gardens Cemetery of Sioux Center. Mrs. Mouw was born Jan. 22, 1922 to Noyce and Mattie Leigh Cates in Roanoke Rapids, N.C. She was raised in Roanoke Rapids and graduated from Roanoke Rapids High School. Mrs. Mouw was born Jan. 22, 1922 to Noyce and Mattie Leigh Cates in Roanoke Rapids, N.C. She was raised in Roanoke Rapids and graduated from Roanoke Rapids High School. On Dec. 18, 1944, Marie married Vernon P. Mouw at NAS Chapel, Pensacola Beach, FLA. They lived in Norfolk, Virginia, where she worked at the NAS. From there they moved to Chicago, ILL, where she worked at the Board of Trade. They started their family and moved to Sioux Center, where she was a homemaker and mother. She attended Central Reformed Church where she served in a number of ways including Ladies Guild, Sunday School and many other church work groups. She had many interests and hobbies including golfing with Vern and friends, playing bridge with friends, gardening. She enjoyed spending time with her husband, children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Survivors include her husband Vernon P. Mouw; a daughter and son-in-law Pam and James Smith of Chapel Hill, North Carolina, son and daughter-in-law Greg and Karen Mouw of Sioux Center; five grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; two sisters, Katie Williams of Roanoke Rapids and Lola Boyd of Greensboro, N.C. She was preceded in death to two brothers-in-law, Francis Williams and Bill Boyd.
