Read More	Alice Marie "Sally" Wheeler January 7, 1932 - August 19, 2015 Cumberland, MD- Alice Marie “Sally” (Fitzwater) Wheeler, 83, of Cumberland, died Wednesday, August 19, 2015 at the Western Maryland Regional Medical Center. Born January 7, 1932 in Mountain Lake Park, MD, she was the daughter of the late John Lower Fitzwater, Sr. and Alice Marie (Dilfer) Fitzwater. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Julian Richard “Dick” Wheeler, and her brother, John Lower Fitzwater, Jr. Sally earned her Bachelor of Science degree from West Virginia Wesleyan and her Master's degree in Education from West Virginia University. She also had over thirty credit hours past her Master's degree. Mrs. Wheeler had been a Music Resource teacher for the Allegany County Board of Education, retiring with 46 years of service. She had taught students at Penn Avenue, Oldtown, Johnson Heights, Corriganville, Ellerslie, Parkside, Bel Air, and Cash Valley Schools. She was a member of Centre Street United Methodist Church. Mrs. Wheeler was a 50 year member of McKinley Chapter #12, O.E.S; Re Temple #118 D.O.N.; West Virginia Wesleyan Emeritus Club, and Alpha Gamma Delta Sorority. Her professional associations include the Allegany County Retired Teachers Association, MSEA, NEA, and ACTA. Survivors include her son, John Richard Wheeler, and wife Brenda Lee Wheeler; two grandsons, Timothy D. Nelson, Jr. and Stephen A. Nelson; and, numerous nieces and nephews. Friends will be received at the Upchurch Funeral Home, P.A., 202 Greene Street, Cumberland, on Sunday from 2-4 PM and 7-9 PM and Monday from 10-11 AM. The funeral service will be conducted in the funeral home on Monday at 11 AM, with Rev. Thomas Young and Rev. Richard Jewell, officiating. Interment will be in St. Mary's Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to either the Ali Ghan Shrine Transportation Fund, P.O. Box 1416, Cumberland, MD 21501-1416 or to the Shriners Hospitals for Children, 3551 N.
