She died Saturday, March 22, 2008 at the Eventide Nursing Home in Denison, Iowa at the age of ninety. Alice was born in Monrovia, Atchison County, Kansas. She graduated from Nortonville Kansas High School with the class of 1935. On September 17, 1936, she was united in marriage to Warder Hillhouse in Effingham, Kansas. Read More	Alice May Hillhouse was born August 10, 1917, the daughter of Samuel E, and Siney Belle Christie Jones. She died Saturday, March 22, 2008 at the Eventide Nursing Home in Denison, Iowa at the age of ninety. Alice was born in Monrovia, Atchison County, Kansas. She graduated from Nortonville Kansas High School with the class of 1935. On September 17, 1936, she was united in marriage to Warder Hillhouse in Effingham, Kansas. The couple made their home in Elliott, Iowa until 1942 when they moved to Denison, Iowa. Warder died on August 3, 1985. She enjoyed the fishing trips to Minnesota with the family, traveling throughout the United States, bowling, knitting and bus trips with friends. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Denison. She was a much loved wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother and a dear friend to many. She will always be remembered for her positive outlook on life and her lively spirit. She will truly be missed. Left to cherish her memory are her three children and their spouses, Don and Wanda Helmkamp of Royal, Iowa; W.C. and Glenda Hillhouse of Jefferson; Jim Hillhouse and special friend, Sheri Rowedder of Denison; fourteen grandchildren, Tami Mugge, Tony Helmkamp, Mike Helmkamp, Lisa Swanson, Tarrie Ruark, Tina Hillhouse, Tim Hillhouse, EdDeee May Sizemore, Ann Murray, Mark Hillhouse, Angela Wiebers, Sarah Hillhouse, Molly Gillmor, Brooke Hillhouse and twenty-two great-grandchildren; and two very special life-long friends, Cecil Walker and Myrtle McVay. She was preceded in death by her husband, Warder Hillhouse, a son, Ed Hillhouse, her parents, a brother, Edward Jones and a sister, Elizabeth Milne. Funeral services were held 10:30 A.M., Friday, March 28, 2008, at the First United Methodist Church in Denison, Iowa. Rev. Alberta Ervin officiated the service and graveside rites held at the Oakland Cemetery in Denison. Organist Nancy Miles provided the service music and soloist Eldon Hardekopf sang "God Will Take Care of You" and "The Lord's Prayer". Those serving as honorary pallbearers were Anthony Oropeza, Chris Swanson, Jerry Ruark and Dan Murrary. Pallbearers were Mark Hillhouse, Mike Helmkamp, Tony Helmkamp, Lucas Gillmor, Jason Wiebers and Tim Hillhouse. The family invited everyone in attendance to join them for fellowship and lunch served by the Methodist Women. The Huebner Funeral Home in Denison was in charge of arrangements.
