Description	:	BINGHAM - Alice (Smith) Betit went home to be with her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on Tuesday, July 16, 2013. Alice was born May 28, 1918 in Houlton, the daughter of Glen and Alice (Foss) Smith. The family moved to Bingham when she was a child, and Alice lived there for 90 years before moving to Florida. Alice graduated from Bingham High School in 1935 and in 1936 married Robert Smith; they were blessed with eight children. At the time of Robert's death, in 1987, they had been married for 51 years. Alice was born May 28, 1918 in Houlton, the daughter of Glen and Alice (Foss) Smith. The family moved to Bingham when she was a child, and Alice lived there for 90 years before moving to Florida. Alice graduated from Bingham High School in 1935 and in 1936 married Robert Smith; they were blessed with eight children. At the time of Robert's death, in 1987, they had been married for 51 years. Alice remarried Lionel "Ned" Betit in 1995. They enjoyed their home, church, senior citizens, the Grange, card games and traveling together for 18 years. In addition to being a wonderful wife and mother, Alice worked at the Quimby Mill in Bingham for 12 years and was the cook at the Moscow Elementary School for 13 years -- where all her students called her "Grammie." After her retirement in 1980, she traveled to Europe, Alaska, Canada and across the United States. She accepted Jesus Christ as her savior and was a founding member of Trinity Baptist Church in Moscow, where she taught Sunday School and led women's Bible studies. Alice was predeceased by her parents, five siblings -- Helen, Ruth, Julia, Parker and Hale, two sons -- Ronald and Darryl, daughter-in-law -- Myrna, and great-grandson -- Kris. She is survived by her husband, Ned; two sons, Norman Smith and wife Helen, of Manchester, Tenn., and Wayne Smith and wife Lise, of Bingham; four daughters, Dorothy Smith, of Baltimore, Md., Roberta Burr and husband Edwin, of St. Petersburg, Fla., Sharon Taylor and husband Paul, of Clearwater, Fla., and Kathleen Provost and husband Lyle, of Brandenburg, Ky., 17 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; seven great-great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews. Interment will be in the Union Cemetery, Moscow. (Morning Sentinel 7/20/2013 & Giberson Funeral Home)
