Services in celebration of her long life will be at 1 p.m. Monday, Jan. 27, at Weerts Funeral Home, Kimberly at Jersey Ridge Road, Davenport. Pastor Troy Winder will officiate. Her family will greet friends from 2-4 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home. Burial will be in Pleasant Valley Cemetery. Memorials may be made to Bettendorf Presbyterian Church, where she was a longtime member. Alice was born in 1918 in Pleasant Valley, Iowa, the eldest child of Frank and Rosa Clemons. She was a 1935 graduate of Davenport High School and was a very devoted daughter to her family. On March 15, 1940, she married George S. Dailey in Muscatine. He died June 12, 1987. Alice was very active in Republican affairs on the county and state level of Iowa, and she remained fully invested in her community. She was always willing to extend her hand. Over the years, she made quilts for a number of notable political figures, including President George H.W. Bush. She volunteered for Elder Care Services of Iowa, and was awarded the Governor's Volunteer Award in 1991. Noted as well for being a terrific cook, she was an avid produce gardener and worked for a time at her father's produce market, "Clemons Market" on Route 67. Survivors include her sons, George (Peggy) Dailey of Pittsburgh, Pa., Robert (Susan) Dailey of Santa Fe, N.M., and Roger (Milena) Dailey of Brimfield, Ill.; grandchildren, Robert (Gail) Dailey, Edward (Emily) Dailey, Jennifer (Peter) Kozlowski, Elizabeth Dailey-Baker, Carole Dailey, Rebecca Dailey, John Dailey and Nicole Gravenmier; great-grandchildren, Victoria, Robert, Maxwell and Brynn; along with many nieces and nephews. In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by daughter, Rosalie Gravenmier; and siblings, Frank Clemons, Charlotte Mohr, Marvin Clemons and Ben Clemons.
