Read More	Aliene LaVon Hannam, 99, of Keosauqua died Saturday, April 20, 2019, at Van Buren Community Hospital. LaVon was born December 28, 1919, in Lebanon, Iowa, to Rex and Irene Brown Koonts. She is survived by her children Richard Hannam of Tampa, Florida, Twyla Peacock of Keosauqua, Gloria Breckenridge and husband Richard of Keosauqua, Bernard Hannam and wife Dolores of Newport Beach, California, and Jerry Hannam and wife Marcella of Bonaparte; twenty grandchildren, thirty nine great grandchildren and fourteen great great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Raymond Eugene; a brother, Retson Koonts; a sister, Berneil Koonts Beal; a son, Leo in infancy; a daughter, Sherry Hornbaker Overstreet; a son-in-law, Dean Hornbaker; a son-in-law, Eugene Overstreet; and a son-in-law, Karl Peacock. LaVon met her husband Eugene when he came to work for the Civilian Conservation Corp at Lacey Keosauqua State Park. They married November 22, 1937 at St. Bonafice, Farmington and were married 56 years before Eugene's death in 1993. LaVon raised her children, and later worked at the Keosauqua High School in the cafeteria, and twenty years at the Agricultural Stabilization and Conservation Service (ASCS) office before retiring in 1981. She was a long-time member of St. Bonafice Catholic Church and Altar and Rosary Society; Isaac Walton League for many years; and PTA when her children were young. LaVon and Eugene enjoyed traveling and visiting their family, usually long distances by bus or train. They were also known to take to the dance floor with their skillful moves. Over the years, LaVon crocheted for her community numerous baptismal bibs, lap quilts for the care center and newborn baby caps for the hospital. Family members were also fortunate to receive her handy work for weddings and births. She was an avid reader and enjoyed a competitive game of cards with close friends. LaVon's greatest legacy is the continued love she had for her family. Visitation will be at Pedrick Funeral Home, Keosauqua, from 5:00-7:00 p.m. Wednesday, April 24. Funeral Mass will be held at St. Bonafice Catholic Church, Farmington, Thursday, April 25, at 10:30 a.m. with Father Hoffman officiating, and burial at Fellows Cemetery in Keosauqua. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Keosauqua Public Library, St. Bonafice Catholic Church or Friends of Lacey State Park.
