Allan Carl Marks was born February 12th, 1947 in Tilden, NE. He was baptized March 16th, 1947 at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Tilden, NE and was confirmed on May 28th, 1961 at Mount Olive Lutheran Church in Norfolk, NE where he has remained a member. He attended grade school at District 2 in Antelope County and Washington Elementary School in Norfolk NE, and graduated from High School at Norfolk Senior High in 1965. Following high school, he attended Universal Trade Schools of Omaha NE. He served in the U.S. Army from August 29th, 1966 until July 15th, 1976. His tour of duty took him many places including Ft. Monmouth N.J., the Aleutian Islands, Ft. Gordon, Georgia, Seoul Korea, Ft. Richardson, Alaska, and Ft. Huachuca, Arizona. While in the service he continued his education in electronics and communications, and attended Cochise College while stationed in Ft. Huachuca, Arizona. After his 10-year military service, employment included Dale Electronics, Norfolk Daily News, Lindsay Manufacturing, Richow Trucking and self-employment until becoming disabled due to health. Allan was a life member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars, member of the American Legion, served on the executive board, and held several offices in Post 16, Norfolk. He was Madison County Commander for one year. He was a member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles and held several offices there. Allan lived in Tilden NE from 1947-1957, in Norfolk NE from 1957-1966, served in the U.S. Army from 1966-1976, and then resided in Norfolk from 1976-2012 Allan enjoyed gardening, especially flowers, and was a member of the Iris Society. He enjoyed fishing, spending time visiting with his many friends, and was an avid Nascar fan. He is survived by one sister, Sharon Taake and her husband Otto, three nieces Angela Peterson and husband George of Lincoln, NE, Lisa Werner and husband Marty of Meadow Grove, NE, Kristin Taake of Lincoln, NE, and seven great-nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Harold and Mildred Marks, and one son, Gregory Duane Marks.
