Description	:	Allan Clarence Lucas, age 96, of Crawfordsville, Iowa, died Sunday, September 16, 2018, at the Washington County Hospital following a short illness. Allan was born February 11, 1922, in Des Moines County, Iowa, the son of Harry and Stella (Ruschill) Lucas. He attended school in Sperry, Iowa. Allan was united in marriage to Betty Caldwell on November 15, 1945. Allan helped on the family farm until he began driving a truck. Allan and Betty moved to Crawfordsville in 1949. Read More	Allan Clarence Lucas, age 96, of Crawfordsville, Iowa, died Sunday, September 16, 2018, at the Washington County Hospital following a short illness. Allan was born February 11, 1922, in Des Moines County, Iowa, the son of Harry and Stella (Ruschill) Lucas. He attended school in Sperry, Iowa. Allan was united in marriage to Betty Caldwell on November 15, 1945. Allan helped on the family farm until he began driving a truck. Allan and Betty moved to Crawfordsville in 1949. Soon after their move, their first son Ronald was born and three years later their second son, Roger was born. Allan continued hauling livestock until his retirement in 1987. He was a member of the United Church of Crawfordsville. He owned and showed Hackney Ponies for several years and was a member of the Midwest Hackney Society, Mid-States Hackney Association and the American Hackney Horse Society. He was also a member of the Moose Lodge #579 in Burlington, Iowa, since 1973. He was preceded in death by his parents; six siblings:Wilber, Russell, Lloyd and Marvin Lucas, Marcille Walker and Hazel Hightower; and daughter-in-law, Edie Lucas.
