Description	:	Allan Koerner, 83, of Eureka died May 9, 2007 of a ruptured abdominal aneurysm at St. Alexius Medical Center at Bismarck. Allan Koerner, son of Jacob and Karolina (Knapp) Koerner was born July 21, 1923 14 miles northeast of Eureka on the family homestead. He attended Odessa II country school and worked on the family farm. He eventually took over the operation of the farm. Allan Koerner, son of Jacob and Karolina (Knapp) Koerner was born July 21, 1923 14 miles northeast of Eureka on the family homestead. He attended Odessa II country school and worked on the family farm. He eventually took over the operation of the farm. He was united in marriage to Iona Mutschler on October 21, 1945 at Zion Lutheran Church at Eureka. They were general farmers with special emphasis on Registered Polled Hereford Cattle. He was well known for the Bulls he raised and sold. In March of 1986, they retired and moved into Eureka. Allan and Iona enjoyed traveling together. When he was home, yard work and caring for his home was very important to him. He also liked to bowl, watch sports on television and play cards with his friends. He was a life member of Eureka Reformed Church and was a past Reformed Church Consistory member. He was a member of the American Polled Hereford Association and the Eureka City Cemetery Board and a past County School Board Member and had served on the Rural Telephone Exchange. Survivors include his wife of Eureka, one sister, Malinda Ladner of Eureka and several nieces and nephews. His parents, two brothers and two sisters preceded him in death. Funeral service will be Monday, May 21, 2007 at Eureka Reformed Church. The Rev. Richard Stetler will officiate. Burial will be in Eureka City Cemetery. Casketbearers will be Milton Koerner of Aberdeen, Gordon Knittel of Woonsocket, SD, Bruce Mutschler and Clark Ladner, both of Sioux Falls, Mike Neuharth of Eureka and Verlin Jakober of Leola. Carlsen Funeral Home of Eureka have been entrusted with arrangements.
