Description	:	Allan L. Slater, 79, of Eldora died Thursday, Sept. 26, 2002, at the Presbyterian Village in Ackley. Services were held Monday, Sept. 30, at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Eldora with burial in Eastlawn Memory Garden Cemetery, Eldora. Pastor David Splett officiated. Allan was born March 28, 1923, in Bovey, Minn., to John and Sarah Bauer Slater. The family moved to Norman, Neb., and he graduated from the Norman High School. Allan was born March 28, 1923, in Bovey, Minn., to John and Sarah Bauer Slater. The family moved to Norman, Neb., and he graduated from the Norman High School. He served from 1943-45 in the Seabees in the U. S. Navy during World War II. On Nov. 4, 1945, he married Dorothy Uden in Juniata, Neb. They later moved to Eldora where he was employed for 25 years by Dayco in the Quality Control Plant. He was a member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church, actively volunteered at Dorothy's Senior Center, and a member of American Legion Post No. 182 and V.F.W. Roll-Harless Post No. 3974, in Eldora. Gardening was his hobby and he enjoyed giving fresh produce to others. He is survived by his wife, Dorothy of Eldora; two daughters, Sherry Crowley and husband Bill of Waterloo and Mary vonKaufmann and husband Ernest of Midlothian, Va.; two sons, Douglas Slater and wife Donna of Freeport, Ill., and Randall Slater and wife Joyce of Ellicott City, Md.; eight grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; two brothers; and a sister. He was preceded in death by his parents; three brothers and two sisters. Creps-Abels Funeral Home of Eldora was in charge of arrangements.
